Umihiko Hoshijima Presented the Results of His Dissertation Research

In a thesis defense seminar on May 30th, Umihiko (Umi) Hoshijima presented the results of his dissertation research. Umi worked in the coastal oceans of Antarctica and in the kelp forests near Santa Barbara.

His work has been published in Conservation Physiology and Ecological Informatics. You can see more about Umi’s Antarctic research in a story from NSF. In summer 2018, Dr. Hoshijima will be joining the lab of Professor Kristy Kroeker at UC Santa Cruz where he will work on community ecology of Alaskan kelp forests.
