Abstract

My research focuses on evolution of genes that determine the metabolic phenotype of muscle. Though many aspects of energy metabolism are notoriously conserved, we focus on genes/proteins that have diversified in lineage-specific ways. These differences in structure affect metabolic function and alter how the proteins integrate into pathways that link energetic stress and physiological remodelling.
