Make a Difference with Undergraduate Support

Education is at the core of our mission. Your support of our undergraduate students and programs is critical for our ability to educate the next generation of leaders. Help us build a better future for all.

Help Fund Gifts for the Following

Undergraduate Laboratory Equipment and Field Trips

Hands on experience is crucial in the learning experience and to the future success of students. It helps them apply what they have learned and gain the skills needed to secure jobs or attend graduate and medical school. We are in need of teaching laboratory equipment to replace outdated and broken classroom instruments including microscopes, spectrophotometers, flurometers, PCR machines, laboratory stools, teaching lab computers, computer projectors, and much more. Recent budget cuts have eliminated many field trips. Your generous gift can replace an instrument, outfit or renovate a whole laboratory classroom, or cover the costs of a field trip. Your gift of equipment will support student learning for many years into the future.

Scholarships

Named Endowed Scholarships

Undergraduate scholarship support allows the Department to recognize outstanding undergraduate students for their excellence in course work and research. A gift of $20,000 or more establishes a permanent named scholarship.

Named Scholarship Awards

Contributions at any level are greatly appreciated and allow us to honor exceptional students within the Department. A gift of $1,000 or more establishes a one-year named award.

The Ecology Undergraduate Mentorship Program

This Program pairs highly motivated biology undergraduates one-on-one with graduate student mentors to conduct research under the guidance of a UCSB biology professor during the summer. It provides many students with their first taste of what it's like to be immersed in science. It is a life changing experience for most. They take away new practical skills, a love of scientific inquiry and a deep commitment to environmental preservation and our planet's future.
